Vt and ct circuits

Hi
I’m trying to build my understanding of vt and ct circuits.
So far I may be wrong but
They are heating circuits produced from boiler
with vt (variable temp) by a modulating 3 port valve closer to the boiler - not sure if mixing or diverting. To lower the temperature for equipment like trench heating or radiators( not sure of other typical examples)

Ct circuits I’ve read the also use 3 port valve to lower the temperature? but I’ve also think these are from the boilers temperature and then modulated at local valves to the equipment such as fcus and air handling units (again not sure on all examples)

Would anyone help with clear examples and is the only difference between ct and vt that one is modulated near the boiler and the other near the equipment?

Thank you all
