Outside heat pump. Inside air handler straight cool.
I can’t seem to get the heat going (not the heat strip) from the outside heat pump.
The only wires energized are the R, G, W. All those wires are for inside heat strip (fan comes on and is looking for a heat strip but there isn’t one) but I have a heat pump and I would like to use that. I thought thermostat would energize all wires for heat pump: R G Y W during heat? Any clarification would be helpful.
* I can get it to run heat outside (suction hot, high side cold) if I connect the W wire to the contactor but it would only run hot for a few minutes.
