I have been doing a large amount of reading about expansion tanks and why they fail (bladder tanks). Should they be installed on the bottom of the very efficient air separator? What else is the air separator good at doing for us? It is slowing down the velocity of the water allowing air to come out, but does it not also let dirt and debris come out of the flow? This dirt and debris would then go down into the bladder expansion tank and sit on the rubber bladder. Could this dirt and debris cause the rubber to fail prematurely when the pressure changes in the system and the bladder moves inside the vessel rubbing up against the walls?
Are there any thoughts about installing the tank connection on the side of a pipe and then hanging the tank threads like normal allowing the dirt and debris to pass by the tank and not drop into it?
