Running the compressor with closed lines?

Hi There,

Hope I'm posting at the right place.

I have the need to cool down and regulate a small thermal chamber (from ambient to ~10°C) and to do so we use an HVAC unit that in cooling configuration.

So far we were running the unit full power to rapidly cool the chamber, however we would like to have more control upon the temperature.

We took contact with a local hvac company, and they said that can be achieved by adding a solenoid valve prior to the expansion valve and controlling the flow this way (frequent ON/OFF switching) while keeping the compressor running.

I'm a bit surprised to keep the compressor running against a closed valve for extended period of time, is that safe, and a standard/common setup ?

The layout consist of Reciprocating Compressor (danfoss mtz36-4vm) -> Condenser -> Filter/Dryer -> Receiver Tank -> (Solenoid) -> Expansion Valve -> Evaporator

Thanks
